Poland’s Pawel Jaworski just wrecked the -88kg bracket in Kraków.

Day 1 of the 2026 ADCC World Championship is in the books at Tauron Arena, and FloGrappling’s locked semifinal sheet puts the No. 8 seed across from Gabriel Brod on Sunday after Jaworski submitted Roberto Dib Frias with an ankle lock in the opening round, then shocked top-seeded Felipe Costa in front of the home crowd. Jozef Chen and Marlon Tajik meet in the other half after Chen beat Chris Wojcik and Tajik submitted Nathan Haddad.

Across the eight divisions, Saturday mixed chalk with genuine chaos. Four-time champion Kaynan Duarte kept rolling at -99kg, submitting Nico Maglicic and Javier Zaruski, and now faces Australia’s Daniel Schuardt — who submitted Michael Pixley and Eoghan O’Flanagan to get there. Luke Griffith and Achilles Rocha meet on the other side after Rocha’s run through Declan Moody and Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu.

At heavyweight, No. 1 Felipe Pena submitted Belal Etiabari and Nick Hartman and draws Josh Saunders in the semis. Victor Hugo advanced with two submissions; Scotland’s Mark Macqueen upset No. 2 Dan Manasoiu and gets Hugo next.

The -77kg quarterfinals flipped the top of the board when Magomed Dzharbaev beat No. 1 Vagner Rocha, who announced his retirement after the match. Dzharbaev now meets hometown favorite Mateusz Szczecinski. PJ Barch and unseeded Jacob Bornemann — who beat teammate Dante Leon — close that bracket.

At -66kg, Diego “Pato” Oliveira stayed on track with wins over Jakub Wiklacz and Gianni Grippo and draws Kennedy Maciel. Earlier, No. 15 Ryoma Anraku upset No. 2 Owen Jones after a scoreless regulation and overtime. Jones later re-entered as a replacement when Dorian Olivarez was disqualified after a post-match altercation, then fell to Dominic Mejia in the quarters. Mejia faces Gavin Corbe in the other semi.

On the women’s side, Anabel Lopez erased a projected Crevar–Pessanha final by beating Gabi Pessanha by decision after overtime. Helena Crevar still advanced with a submission over Matilda Reid and meets Elizabeth Mitrovic; Lopez faces Paige Ivette Clymer. At -65kg, returning champion Ana Carolina Vieira survived Nadia Frankland and draws Mo Black, while Sarah Galvão’s debut run continues against Joslyn Molina — already the youngest athlete to win an ADCC match. At -55kg, Jasmine Rocha (submission) meets Ana Mayordomo, and Mayssa Bastos faces Ana Rodrigues.

Semifinals, medal matches, and finals run Sunday. Absolute brackets are still to come — ADCC is expected to announce them before action resumes. FloGrappling streams the Worlds with a 5 a.m. ET start.
