Shoya Ishiguro will meet Ruan Alvarenga in a featherweight submission grappling match at ONE Fight Night 48: Erdogan vs. Elliott, ONE Championship announced, with the 10-minute bout set for Friday, October 2, 2026, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and live in U.S. primetime on Prime Video.

The add marks Ishiguro’s first featherweight appearance under the ONE banner after previous work at flyweight and bantamweight. The 29-year-old ARTA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu representative already owns four ONE wins, including decision victories over fellow Japanese black belts Toshiyasu Sagae and Hiryu Niwa.

Ishiguro has also finished fights before the judges. At ONE Friday Fights 64 he tapped Bruno “Macaco” Azevedo with an inside heel hook at 9:17, and at ONE Friday Fights 115 he forced Denny Sisti to tap to a neck crank at 6:20. Outside ONE, he took silver at the 2025 IBJJF European Championship and bronze at the 2025 IBJJF World Championship.

Alvarenga, 28, represents Pantera Negra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and enters his second ONE appearance at 21-6. He debuted at ONE Fight Night 46 in August with a unanimous decision over two-time IBJJF World Champion Meyram Maquine Alves — his second win over Maquine after a referee’s decision at BJJ Stars 17 in 2025. ONE notes he is the son of instructor Iran Brasileiro Alvarenga, who helped develop Marcelo Garcia, and that Alvarenga later trained under Garcia in New York City.

On October 2, Ishiguro will look for a fifth ONE win while Alvarenga looks to build on that promotional debut in ONE’s featherweight submission grappling ranks.
