Christian Echols came in heavy for Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10, Week 5. Official UFC weigh-ins on Monday, September 7 listed him at 189 pounds for a middleweight bout with Martin Kozak (185), with UFC noting Echols weighed in above the middleweight limit. The rest of the five-fight card made weight for Tuesday night at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

UFC’s Week 5 preview frames the show as the season’s midpoint: 20 contracts already awarded across eight divisions after Week 4 again handed out five, and this episode finally puts men’s bantamweight on the Contender Series board for the first time this season. Season 10 airs Tuesdays on Paramount+ at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.

UFC also notes Echols took the middleweight slot on short notice after Kozak’s original opponent was scratched for visa issues. The weigh-in board still lists the bout; UFC has not posted a catchweight or cancellation note on the results page.
