Guillotine Choke
The standard guillotine, arm in guillotine, high elbow, standing, or off your back. There’s no shortage of guillotine variations. This versatile BJJ choke works by using the blade of the wrist, right where it meets the thumb. Crushing your opponents windpipe and slowly choking them.
While the choke looks simple enough there’s a lot of subtleties to learn if you’re to successfully tap a larger stronger opponent. The key is to control the distance. Creating enough space to get your second hand in to effect the choke. Then it’s all about the elbow. Getting it high tightens the choke, and makes it harder for them to fight the arm. Leaning your head across towards your opponent helps create the angle you need to put them to sleep.
