North South Control

The North South position is an excellent controlling position with plenty of submission options. Effective against both inexperienced opponents and seasoned competitors.

Typically entered from side control, Your chest should be on their chest. If you find your head in their crotch that’s not north south anymore it’s a 69 and your no longer doing Jiu Jitsu! Keep your knees off the ground and your feet wide apart to maintain a strong base. Push with your legs driving your chest and shoulder down into the bottom player. They should feel as much weight as you can give them.

Against larger stronger opponents focus on pushing the bottom players hands towards their waist, the straighter their elbows are the weaker their arms will be when trying to hold you off.
